Who is this Brandi person and can I be her when I grow up?

Hello again friend!

I hope you are having a great day, because it’s about to get a million times more AWESOME!

Over in the Facebook Group today we got to sit down and have an AMAZING time getting to know the beautiful Brandi better!!! That’s right…. The lady behind all the fantastic fabrics took a few minutes out of her super busy schedule to say hey and answer some questions, including giving us a few sneak peeks of whats to come! If you haven’t joined the Facebook group yet you are definitely missing out! Not only do we do FUN things like LIVE sews on Wednesdays, but Sundays are going to be filled with chat sessions with some of our favorite sewists, and pattern designers 😲

Before we sat down for our chat though I wanted to get to know Brandi a little bit better for myself and since my hubby told me running a background check was probably a little too intense 😬 I decided I’d send her some questions instead to cover important things.... you know like Do you eat pineapple on pizza? 🤣:

So how does someone go from sewing to designing and selling fabric?

I started by sewing for my kids, then moved into my own handmade shop. I had an etsy and Facebook but did not understand social media marketing and didn't know enough about how to research it but that didn't stop me from sewing and selling. Most of my sales for that shop were to locals either through local groups, events, or in one of the stores I had consignment sections in. I decided I wanted to try my hand at hand tie-dying fabric to use for my clothing shop and when I posted my finished stuff people started asking where the fabric was from and when they found out it was me they asked if they could buy some too. Which pushed the doors open for fabric. It was totally on accident and I fell into it fast and had to learn while I went. Tie-dye quickly turned into a desire to learn how to make seamless designs and print my own fabric. I have a degree in culinary arts not in graphic design, but that didn't stop me. I watched every YouTube video, read every article and tutorial I could find to teach myself. I am still humbled and amazed when I see customers placing orders that I recognize from those early days. People that have been here through the up's and down's and learning curves, the fact that they are still with me all of these years later blows my mind and warms my heart. Some of them I have spent the last 5 and a half years seeing their kids and family grow from the outside. From post to post watching newborns grow into children, sharing the joys of family trips, births, birthdays and celebrations. These days I am definitely more busy as the shop has grown but seeing these posts feels like family. I smile with your celebrations and share your frustration every time you share about having to seam rip! I never would have imagined ending up where I am now in the beginning but I couldn't be happier about it!

I know you are SUPER busy designing and getting our pretties to us, but do you ever take the time to sew anymore?

Not as much as I would like to, but I definitely do try to make myself get back to my machines every week if nothing else for my own sanity. My current project is probably counter productive to my own sanity since tulle makes me a little crazy but it is totally going to be worth it when it is finished 😍😍😍

I have to ask.... DO you like pineapple on pizza? 🤔

Yessssss!!! My favorite pizza is actually Vegetarian with pepperoni and Pineapple or Pepperoni, pineapple, and caramelized onions. YUM!!!

If that wasn’t enough for you (I know it wasn’t for me!) check out the video of our live chat to learn even more:
