My Very Own Riverdale

If you know me or are in our Facebook group or follow us on Instagram it is no secret the I LOVE RIVERDALE!!

This CW Series is the modern day recreation of the old Archie comics with slightly darker story lines and very handsome actors I was hooked at the first episode! After seeing season 2 I knew I needed to try my hand at making a serpent jacket but I have never worked with leather before and if we are being honest zippers still scare me a bit! I wouldn't let that stop me though!! While hunting down the right pattern and fabric I was so inspired the I decided I needed to make not just Jughead but Archie, Betty, and Veronica inspired outfits as well!

Veronica Lodge

We will start first with the raven haired beauty herself Veronica Lodge. Former New York socialite and rich girl has a very classic channeling Audrey Hepburn type of fashion about her. When trying to decide what pattern to use for her outfit the timeless look of the Amara Peplum by Black Label Pattern Company was absolutely perfect.

I went with the low back option and the high low skirt in black scuba. My little not so raven haired Veronica Approves!

Archie Andrews

For Archie Andrews, the football playing physical embodiment of loyalty, strength, and sensitivity. He is typically seen in his Letterman jacket and Bulldogs shirts so I went with that. The Jolly Roger Reglan by Patterns for Pirates is a go to staple in every closet in my house and was an easy choice when picking the pattern for my bulldogs shirt. Mine is made out of double brushed poly with mustard solids found here and you can grab this panel and make one for yourself or your little Archie here

I had been eyeing the Ollie Bomber from Sew A Little Seam for pretty much forever and needing a Letterman jacket I had the perfect excuse to grab the bundle!! I can not wait to sew on up for me! My son wears it almost everyday since I made it so it looks like I will be making more for him as well. I went with Mustard French Terry and Royal blue Quilted Knit for the outside and fully lined with Mustard double brushed poly on the inside.

Betty Cooper

For the smart, strong, beautiful and fearless Betty Cooper who is like a cross between Nancy Draw and the Girl with the dragon tattoo. Her outfits lean towards the more feminine, soft, and a bit conservative and I could not be more happy with the patterns I choose! I have owned and never sewn up the Spice Cake Dolman by Patterns for Pirates for literally years and now I am totally kicking my self for it! This on was made in the breathtaking Emi Floral on pink stripes in rayon french terry, one of my all time favorite fabrics. It is heavenly soft, nice and thick but still has perfect drape.

For her pants I made the Presley Pants by Violette Field Threads. They have an elastic waist in the back and super cute flap closure on the back pockets. They are so perfect I can not wait to make her a whole closet of them!

I opted to do a snap closure instead of the button holes suggested in the pattern and it is totally love!!

Can't you tell that she love this outfit too!! So much Sass on this girl!

Jughead Jones

Last, but certainly not least my crowning glory of an outfit and personal favorite on the show... The good-bad boy, incredibly smart and a little cynical, savior of the downtrodden himself Jughead Jones. This whole post stemmed from the desire to make that jacket so maybe we should start right there.

I went on a hunt for the perfect biker jacket and found the Conifer Jacket by Hey June Patterns, gathered my vegan stretch leather, zippers, and my custom designed fabric using the map of the south side Jughead pulls out in season 2 and away I went.

The pattern is technically drafted for girls and the smallest size is a size 6 but since I was using it for a boy and I wanted a more relaxed fit anyways I went with the 6. The pattern is very clear and was super easy to follow and It fit absolutely perfectly, the only thing I did was shorten the sleeves for my little guy. I made it harder on my self by fully lining it in the Riverdale map double brushed poly and let me be the first to tell you stretch leather is an absolute beast to work with but in the ends it was worth every second of frustration.

You can not have Jughead Jones with out his Iconic S shirt! I used the Dylan Tee from Made for Mermaids with this S panel that can be printed on any of our color options in case you also want a collection of S shirts for you wardrobe!

To top the outfit off I made the Patterns for Pirates Lumberjack Shirt, grab some flannel to make your own here and Captain Comfort Jeans, get your denim here. They are both such amazing patterns and will be perfect for keeping my little men warm through our cold Idaho winters!

What would Riverdale photo shoots be with out Milk Shakes?!?!?!
