Deck the Halls with Ash and Elm Day 20- Amanda Schildmeier

Deck the Halls with Ash and Elm Day 20- Amanda Schildmeier

Have you all been sewing with us for the #deckthehallswithashandelm event?!  Today, it’s Amanda from LoveCraftSew on the blog talking about today’s fun freebie.  We are sewing up the  scrappy pet leash from Sew Can She.  If you don’t have the pattern already, you can find the tutorial and download here

I knew that I wanted a festive leash for the holiday season and just love the different flannel options on the site right now.  After going back and forth I finally decided on this red and blue shirting and love it SO much!  This color combo gives me such a Christmas vibe but works year round also.

I decided that I would love just a solid leash instead of the scrappy look in the tutorial.  The great news is that she also gives you instructions in the tutorial to make a solid leash instead of using pieced fabrics.  My fabric wasn’t wide enough for the length with just one yard so I cut two strips instead and ended up with a seam in the middle of my leash.  It really isn’t noticeable at all and isn’t a big deal though!

Since my dog is a tiny one year old Yorkie I was worried the leash would be a bit long for him.  While it is longer than my preference it is still wonderful for going on long walks and I can easily shorten my next one now that I know how it looks as a finished product!

Overall this is a SUPER simple and quick sew with the most difficult part being how to photograph a dog leash, lol!  I really loved making this for my sweet pup and can’t wait to see yours as well!

Don’t forget to use the hashtag #deckthehallswithashandelm and share in the Facebook sew-long group as well for your chance to win some really fun prizes😊
