Deck the Halls with Ash and Elm Day 19- Amanda Schildmeier

Deck the Halls with Ash and Elm Day 19- Amanda Schildmeier

I have really been enjoying sewing for the #deckthehallswithashandelm event!  Today, it’s Amanda from LoveCraftSew on the blog talking about another freebie that makes a great stocking stuffer.  We are sewing up scrunchies from Made for Mermaids!  If you don’t have the pattern already, you can find the tutorial here or here.  The first option is a basic scrunchie in 3 sizes with or without a knot tie added.  The second option is a scarf bow scrunchie that adds a dramatic flair to your hairstyle.

If you are anything like me your scrap bin is overflowing this time of year.  I have so many scraps that are not big enough for clothing but too big to throw away without feeling guilty.  Scrunchies are THE perfect scrap buster with 3 daughters in my house!  The best part is that you can use your woven OR your knit scraps with the same outcome!  I opted to sew up the first option in a medium size with the knot bows added.

I ended up using all Ash & Elm knit fabrics for my scrunchies in a mix of French Terry and Double Brushed Poly bases.  The only additional supply you will need for these is elastic.  They are SUPER fast to sew and cutting takes minutes.  I made all 4 of these in under 20 minutes from cut to finish.

The directions in both tutorials are very clear and easy to understand.  I love how my scrunchies turned out and plan to try the scarf bow option next!

Don’t forget to use the hashtag #deckthehallswithashandelm and share in the Facebook sew-long group as well for your chance to win some really fun prizes😊
