Name and what you do here at Aurora Designs?
My name is Elizabeth Blanchard and I am an admin here at aurora designs.
How old were you when you learned to sew and who taught you?
I grew up with a sewing machine in the house and played on it often as a kid my mom taught me how to do a straight stitch and it has been trial error and you tube from there.  I really didn’t get into sewing clothes or working with knits until about two years ago.
What is your favorite and least favorite part about sewing?
My favorite part about sewing is a toss between coming up with a plan to take my fabric from yard to garment and seeing my vision complete. My least favorite part is pattern prep. I need a plotter!

What is your favorite thing you've ever made?
My favorite thing I made was my Tami using Boho queen and Emi French Terries.
If you could get any sewing item, what is at the very top of your list right now?
My next big crafting wish is for a cover stitch machine. Although a plotter is right up there!
What is your current favorite pattern or pattern designer?
Really you want me to choose one but there are so many?!  If I had to choose at this moment I will pick New Horizons. I love how well drafted the patterns are and the fact that they have so many options.
What is your favorite food?
My most favorite food item would be Key lime pie, yumm!
What's most watched on your Netflix?
Netflix is hit or miss I have moments where I will watch random stuff but in reality it is cartoons.
Currently playing on Pandora?
Currently I am playing Skillet radio on my Pandora but it changes often. My mom is a musician so I have a great love for a wide variety of genres and eras of music.
What do you like to do in your spare time, other than sewing?
On my spare time, well if and when it happens, if I am not sewing I love to be outside moving. Whether it be boating, biking, jogging, walking or hiking as long as I am moving I am happy!

What did you want to be when you grow up?
When I was a little girl I wanted to be a brain surgeon and a mom. After working in the medical field and watching my coworkers struggle with the combo I realized doing both wasn’t for me and so mom I am. I am super proud to be a mom to my kids. However the transition from working mom to stay at home mom was not an easy one. I had found that I had identified myself only as my career and with all the hours I had been working I had forgot who I was. The sewing community has really brought me out of my funk and allowed me to really enjoy life again.

Last but not least, what sewing advice would you give someone just starting out?
If you are brand new to sewing I would suggest for you to get comfortable with your seam ripper, even with loads of experience you will need it. Also ask questions watch YouTube and be proud of your imperfections.
