52 Week Challenge Week Two
We are heading into week two of the 52 week challenge. The challenge this week is to make something from the last fabric you purchased. Being most my fabric comes from online sources I am awaiting shipment on my last purchase. I decided to grab something from the last shipment of fabrics I had gotten. A little bird said Emi is going to be up soon in the shop for preorder. I decide I could spare my athletic DBP that I had just received (I was totally going to hoard it FYI).
The New Year just wouldn’t feel right without a pledge to get fit. So I signed up for a fit competition/challenge and need to take before and after pics. That requires new tights right?! There are some really awesome tights/leggings patterns available. I chose to use Green Style Creations Inspires pattern for this pair.
This pattern has a side seam and inseam but I didn’t want to break up the print of the fabric so I decide to omit the side seam. Before cutting my pattern out, I drew a straight line 3/8” in from the side seam of the front leg piece.
I also did this to the side seam of the back angled piece as well.
When I cut out my fabrics I overlapped my back and front leg on the side seams up until the drawn line. I did the same for the angled pieces. I pieced together the legs with the angled pattern pieces and then sewed up the leg inseams on both legs. From there I turned one leg right side out and put it in the other leg, so the right sides were touching, then sewed my crotch seam with a gusset added. I constructed and attached the waistband per pattern instructions.
I am really happy with the fit of the Inspires, I did a squat test and my crack stayed covered! The pattern can be found here: https://greenstylecreations.com/products/inspire-tights-pdf-sewing-pattern-xxs-to-3xl
What was your last fabric purchased? There are so many different bases of fabrics. I am excited to see the entries for this week’s challenge. Blake used some of the royal blue velvet from the shop to make a Pattern’s for pirates pencil skirt. http://www.patternsforpirates.com/product/pirate-pencil-skirt/
She looks stunning in it! Oh, and did I mention its a free pattern!
April used red stretch velvet to let her wild side show with a George and Ginger road trip Bodysuit. https://georgeandgingerpatterns.com/products/the-road-trip-bodysuit-womens-sizes-pdf-sewing-pattern
She shines with confidence and beauty.
